Rome: off-duty prison officer foils a scam against two elderly people

He was off duty but didn't think twice and leapt into action by foiling a scam against the elderly.

The prison policeman, who now works in Rome and was previously in Sassari, was in line at the post office when he casually overheard a phone call from two elderly people and alerted the police. The military then reached the home of the two victims and blocked the scammer who was already leaving.

The stolen goods, consisting of cash and jewelry, were recovered.

The episode was announced by Giuseppe Di Carlo, general secretary of the FSA CNPP.
