The Malagrotta waste treatment plant catches fire in Rome. The huge fire broke out in the structure for reasons yet to be ascertained .

Firefighters with four teams are on site. According to what was reported by the firefighters, the system affected is TMB1. A column of thick, black smoke rose over the area.

Not even two years ago there was another emergency in the former landfill: on 15 June 2022 the Tmb2 was hit by fire, which led to the closure of the plant which treated around 900 tonnes per day in the capital. The unexpected event had forced the Municipality to find alternative solutions to deal with the problem.
