Romagna under water: dead and missing

Among the victims, an elderly man who lived in Forlì near the Montone river, and who drowned on the ground floor of his home, a 70-year-old from Ronta di Cesena, who died with his wife, and a German woman. Another body was found in Cesenatico on the beach and another victim in a car submerged in water in the Ravenna area.
In Faenza, citizens climbed onto the roofs to escape the wave of water and mud and were rescued by helicopters. Schools are closed from Rimini to Bologna, railway traffic is interrupted.
Dozens of rivers have burst their banks. Mayors, rescuers and civil protection are inviting all the people who live in the surrounding area to go up to the upper floors of the houses , even on the roofs if necessary, because new floods are expected and the weather forecast says that there will still be a lot of rain .

THE PREMIER – "The government is there, alongside the affected populations and the institutions in the area": thus Giorgia Meloni, from Alaska, where she made a direct stopover at the G7 in Japan, speaking by videoconference at one point of the Operations Committee of the Civil Protection on the weather situation and critical issues in Emilia Romagna. The premier has given her immediate availability to convene a Council of Ministers to approve further emergency measures, if necessary.
IMOLA GP CANCELED – F1 has formalized the decision to cancel the Emilia Romagna GP , scheduled at Imola over the weekend, following the floods that hit the region. «The decision - announces F1 on its twitter profile - was taken for the safety of the fans and the teams. It is not right to cause further pressure on the local authorities and on the forces involved in the emergency".
