The lifeless body found yesterday morning in Faenza has been identified, the sixth confirmed dead due to bad weather in the Ravenna area and 14th in Emilia Romagna. This is Giordano Feletti, 79 years old. The body was floating in the garden covered in mud. It was the neighbors who raised the alarm as they returned to their homes when the waters began to recede.
The flooded areas are still very numerous and landslides bring the Apennines to their knees. The red alert was confirmed for today as well: the rains could cause the river levels to rise again.
Meanwhile, the number of people who have had to leave their homes has risen to over 15,000. Assistance interventions for the population continue 24 hours a day and 8,000 citizens have already found hospitality in hotels and in the structures set up by the Municipalities in gyms, sports halls and schools. We also try to run for cover with hydraulic operations never done before: a maneuver is underway to try to reverse the waters of the Cer, the Emilia-Romagna canal, or rather the main mast of the irrigation network, to bring them into the Po. An earthen embankment has been built in Ravenna to try to limit flooding. While the water slowly withdraws from some of the areas flooded in recent days - where hundreds of rescuers, volunteers and ordinary citizens continue to shovel and clean tirelessly - under stress, in particular, there is now the Bassa Romagna: in a an area of about 100 square kilometers that is 80-90% flooded, inhabited by about 100 thousand people who are grappling with a major problem related to the supply of food and water.
The Council of Ministers is scheduled for Tuesday, which will have to decree a state of calamity.
