"It's disgusting, and the attacker didn't even apologize: no calls, no texts, nothing." This is the father of the 13-year-old boy who was beaten Sunday afternoon by the parent of an opposing soccer player during an Under-14 match between CSF Carmagnola and Volpiano Pianese, speaking to Sky Tg24. A brutal brawl ensued, in which the young goalkeeper was kicked and punched, including in the face, and suffered a fractured malleolus and a suspected fractured cheekbone. Now, in addition to being hospitalized, he will also be seen by a psychologist.

Two days after the absurd incident, the father of the young man who was attacked—who was one of the assistant referees during the match—is still struggling with what happened. Furthermore, there has been no apology from the other parent: "All it took was a phone call, we could have met and discussed the situation," the man says. "Maybe it was crazy, something that came to him in an instant: he could have said he was wrong and that he could have acted differently. Especially because things could have been much worse, seeing the force with which he attacked my son."

The incredible events occurred on Sunday afternoon. At the end of the match, played in Collegno, in the province of Turin, a fight broke out between several young soccer players. The attacker, the father of a Carmagnola player, climbed over the fence and entered the field, targeting the Volpiano goalkeeper . "My son was very upset: he couldn't have imagined that a parent and father would ever enter the field and raise their hands so brutally," he continued. "He asked me if I would ever hit one of my opponents like that, and I replied, 'Never in my life.' It's unthinkable for an adult to punch a thirteen-year-old over a soccer match."

The man filed a complaint against the other parent, even though he also intervened during the fight. "I saw my son getting beaten up and did what any father would do: I fought back and defended him," he explains. "Maybe I'll file a complaint too, but I don't care. My son was wrong to react to some taunts, but the attack was unjustifiable. I threw the flag on the ground and ran onto the field."
