«I'll be right back and let's go to Ischia, I'm going to buy a diving mask at the shop».

After saying this to his 10 and 15-year-old daughters, leaving them at the tables of a bar in Naples, near the Beverello pier, he left and was tracked down after a while by the carabinieri while, drunk, he was walking along the docks of the port .

The episode took place yesterday morning and the man was reported for abandonment of minors. On site there were hundreds of people waiting to embark to reach the Gulf Islands.

He was in the crowd with his two daughters from the Veneto region. The three went to the bar to buy a drink, then they would have to take the ferry. "Don't move," the man says to the girls, "I'll be back in seconds."

The first 5 minutes go by, then another 15, the ferry is about to leave and the 15-year-old calls her father on her cell phone: "I'm on my way, don't worry". Same call after another 10 minutes and same answer. Another half hour goes by, and we're on the hour. He has vanished, the daughters remain there, worried. Some people approach them, the carabinieri arrive who obtain a detailed description of the man and track him down on the docks of the port, drunk, a few hundred meters away.

The soldiers then track down the mother on the phone and on her instructions they entrust the girls to an acquaintance from Naples, while the man is reported for abandonment of minors.
