Control and monitoring operations continued throughout the night at accommodation facilities in the area affected by the large fire that has affected the municipality of Peschici, in the province of Foggia, since yesterday morning , with many tourists forced to evacuate on boats provided by the Civil Protection.

Mayor Luigi D'Arenzo confirmed: "The mobile convoy of firefighters and ARIF personnel guarded all the accommodation facilities. There were no problems; the tourists who had left have returned . The situation is completely under control."

"Early this morning," he continued, " the Canadairs resumed operations, dropping water to put out small fires in some remote areas of Peschici, in the woods. Once everything is extinguished, we will also begin land-based cleanup."

The mayor of the Gargano municipality thanks the organizing team. "I will do so officially at the end of the activities," he says, "but I want to thank everyone, starting with Regional President Decaro, all the councilors, the mayors, and Provincial President Nobiletti, who yesterday made municipal facilities available to accommodate tourists who temporarily left their beaches and accommodations. Once the emergency is over, we will assess the enormous loss of our forest heritage."
