An outbreak of Covid has developed among the seasonal workers of a winery in the Valdobbiadene area, in the Treviso area. A 48-year-old Romanian woman has died, her partner is in intensive care and another 18 are in quarantine.

The group, made up entirely of unvaccinated people, arrived in the area last September 17 by bus. They had been hired for the harvest.

The alarm went off after the woman's death. The rescuers who carried out the swab, positive, intervened on the spot. In recent days, colleagues testify, the victim had manifested symptoms compatible with Covid for which no medical intervention was required.

The victim's roommate, 45, also tested positive for the swab and ended up in intensive care in Treviso.

The Prevention Department then carried out the swabs on another 18 people attributable to the company: 13 remaining Romanian workers and 5 people between owners and employees. 17 were negative, one positive.

We now await feedback from the molecular, all have ended up in quarantine and will be subjected to further screening.

"We are monitoring the situation with extreme attention, also given the seriousness of the cases with which this cluster began - underlines the dg Francesco Benazzi -. In the meantime I want to remind everyone that it is very important not to underestimate the Covid symptoms and promptly report any problems to give way to health professionals to intervene with adequate therapy as soon as possible. An appeal should also be addressed to all those communities, Eastern countries in the first place, which so far have adhered to vaccinations with low percentages: Covid, and this dramatic event confirms it, can be die even at an early age. Vaccinating is essential to protect ourselves and those around us ".
