The landings of migrants in Salento continue uninterrupted.

In the last hours at the port of Santa Maria di Leuca, in the province of Lecce, 272 arrived: among them also two 4-month-old babies, as well as women, children and unaccompanied minors.

Nationalities are Afghan, Egyptian, Kyrgyz. There are also eight migrants from Kuwait.

Volunteers from the Italian Red Cross and Caritas welcomed them. Most of the migrants had symptoms of dehydration: rescuers were told they left Turkey five days ago and have never eaten since.

About seven hundred people have landed on the Salento coasts from 3 November to today.

IN LAMPEDUSA - Dramatic situation also in Lampedusa: between last night and this morning there were six landings, with a total of 349 migrants. The small boats - which had a minimum of 25 people and a maximum of 98 on board - were intercepted by the patrol boats of the Guardia di Finanza and the Capitaneria.

All were taken to the hotspot in the Imbriacola district which at the moment welcomes just under 700 people compared to 250 places available.
