In the historic Sanità district of Naples, in a dilapidated building, the Carabinieri discovered an operations center for scams. The military of the Stella station seized five smartphones, 44 "blank" SIM cards and a computer on which applications had been installed that, connected to cell phones, allow hundreds and hundreds of text messages to be sent containing fraudulent links such as "Dear customer, your card is being blocked, to avoid suspension, update your data. Log in". By clicking on the link, you are redirected to a website that looks very similar to that of a bank that steals the user's sensitive data.

A twenty-seven year old has been reported. The Carabinieri had become suspicious because, in the last few days, they had noticed several young people in the area: initially they thought it was drug trafficking . The system was also created so that the text message would maliciously insert itself into the history of messages actually already received from your bank. From the first investigations, 5 scams have already emerged for a total amount of 10 thousand euros but the intervention of the military has allowed them to foil three more in progress.

"The fraud techniques are increasingly insidious and complex," says Captain Raffaele Castanò, commander of the Carabinieri of the Naples Stella Operations Unit. " Do not trust, do not communicate your personal data in calls with strangers or in text messages received . Contact your bank, your family members and reach the nearest Carabinieri station as soon as possible."
