The son of the woman found dead in an apartment in Aprica was taken to the psychiatry department of the Sondrio hospital. He is under investigation for abandonment of an incompetent person and concealment of a corpse.

The 60-year-old, when the police reached the house last night after being called by neighbors who smelled a strong smell, said: "There's no need for you to come in, everything is in order here." In the house, however, there was the body of the mother, Anna Maria Squarza, 91 years old, who had already been dead for weeks according to an initial examination but an autopsy was ordered for further checks. She was on the bed with a sheet covering her face. Next to her, her 90-year-old husband, Giorgio Monticelli, with a gangrenous leg and has been malnourished for some time. He was taken to hospital but his life is not in danger.

The 60-year-old, unemployed, lived on his parents' pension.
