Sardinian Natale Ditel is the new Secretary General of the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority. The Authority announced the appointment today, upon the recommendation of President Marco Consalvo, during the first management committee meeting, chaired by Consalvo, with unanimous approval (President, Harbour Master, Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, and Municipality of Trieste).
A lawyer born in 1964 in Cagliari, Ditel is a technical expert with extensive experience in the Italian port system. He served as Secretary General of the Sardinian Sea Port System Authority for two consecutive terms from 2018 to 2026, alongside Massimo Deiana.
Over the course of its career, Ditel has developed considerable expertise in port administration: coordination of the technical-operational secretariat, implementation of policy directives, management of personnel and union relations, and processes for building unified governance for Sardinian ports.
His most recent assignment was as Security Manager for the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority (Ports of Genoa), in 2026.
"With this appointment," said Marco Consalvo, "we are significantly strengthening the Authority's structure. Ditel has a technical background and is a professional with intimate knowledge of the day-to-day operations of ports, the administrative machinery, and the dynamics of port work."
"His experience," he added, " allows us to count on someone capable of ensuring continuity, but also of providing concrete acceleration to ongoing activities and projects."
The new Secretary General, who will take office on April 13, thanked Consalvo and the committee members, calling the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone "a system that represents not only Italian excellence, but a point of reference in the international and European logistics landscape. I feel a strong responsibility," he concluded, "to serve an institution that is the economic engine of the region and a gateway to the markets of Central and Eastern Europe. I will work to ensure maximum dialogue with the workers and the entire port community."
