In Sardinia, fuel prices are still above the national average.

According to data from the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, as of Monday, September 7, the cost of self-service diesel on the island is €2,177 per litre, compared to the average of €2,165 per litre on the national road network.

Petrol, which is always self-service, is also more expensive than in the rest of the country: €2,066 per litre in Sardinia, compared to the national average of €2,054 per litre.

As is well known, the excise duty cut extended by the Government at the end of August expires on September 10th , and in the absence of new measures, consumer associations fear further price increases.

Meanwhile, the government is preparing new measures. One option is income-based discounts . "We need to implement more targeted measures, because we can't continue spending money on those who don't need it and come to France for gas," stated Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni . But "targeted" aid will apparently have to wait at least until the end of the month. "The offices are working to find a solution," said Environment Minister Pichetto Fratin .
