She was attacked with a hammer by her ex-partner and ended up in the hospital with a guarded prognosis, but her life is not in danger. It happened late yesterday evening in Calitri, in the province of Avellino: the woman, a 28-year-old Tunisian national, had decided to end her relationship with a fellow Tunisian man, who broke into her home and struck her on the head with a hammer.

Neighbors, attracted by screams coming from the house, alerted the police. After attacking the woman , the 28-year-old Tunisian fled, but was tracked down and arrested.

The fugitive was apprehended by Carabinieri from the Investigative Unit of the Avellino Provincial Command in Lioni, a municipality ten kilometers from Calitri, where the attack occurred. The woman was transferred by air ambulance to San Carlo Hospital in Potenza.
