New episode of Massimo Bossetti's legal battle in relation to the crucial element of his life sentence for the murder of Yara Gambirasio, the DNA of “Ignoto 1”. The lawyers of the carpenter from Mapello have denounced the alleged alteration of genetic materials and the Venice Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the case for trial fraud and misdirection. The same prosecutors from Bergamo who ended up in the investigation had sent the documents of the proceedings, for "reasons of competence", to their Venetian colleagues "for appropriate evaluations".
The suspects are the president of the first criminal section of the court of Bergamo, Giovanni Petillo, and Laura Epis, official in charge of the criminal bodies office. The investigation would now be close to closing.
The objective of Bossetti's defenders is always to find a foothold that allows a review of the trial. "We have asked a thousand times to be able to re-examine the finds confiscated after the final sentence - says the lawyer Salvagni - But we have always been denied. When, on the other hand, in 2019, the Court of Bergamo accepted our request, we were then told that the samples 'would have been destroyed'; which raises many questions ".
In November 2019, during an interview with a weekly, one of the consultants of the Bergamo Public Prosecutor's Office had said that the genetic samples were still there, kept at the San Raffaele in Milan. True, the Gambirasio family consultant, Giorgio Portera, had pointed out, specifying however that in reality they were only "some portions around track 31 G20, which gave the strongest compatibility with Bossetti, but which is exhausted and could not make contributions more than those already known ".
