The validation hearing for Luigi Oste took place this morning in Turin, the 62-year-old suspected in the murder of Massimo Melis, the 52-year-old operator of the Sardinian Green Cross killed on November 1st with a revolver shot to the head in his car in the capital. Piedmontese.

The judge reserved the decision which he will file tomorrow. The prosecutor Chiara Canepa, who coordinated the investigations of the mobile squad, asked for precautionary measures in prison.

Luigi Oste made use of the right not to answer, while his lawyer, Salvo Lo Greco, asked for his release as there is no danger of escape, given that the man was arrested in the bar where he worked, Angelo Azzurro, and that after the murder he did not move from his apartment, which is located above the club.

The turning point in the investigation came a few hours after Melis' funeral. Oste is of Sicilian origins but resides in Turin in the Barriera di Milano district, the same where the crime was committed.

According to the investigators, it was he who fired a gunshot to the left temple of the Green Cross operator while he was in the car after having accompanied a friend home.

Luigi Oste was first heard as a person informed on the facts, then, after providing evasive answers, he asked to be assisted by a lawyer. During this night's interrogation he exercised his right not to answer.

Building contractor, convicted with convictions for property crimes and drug dealing, arrested last June for resisting a public official and injuries, investigators arrived at him after capturing a frame from surveillance cameras in the area.

There are no images of the place where Melis was shot dead in his Fiat Punto, but the presence of the 62-year-old in the surrounding area was recorded around 9 pm, the time of the crime. Presence that also results from the printouts and from the telephone cells.

The track most followed by the Flying Squad led to the acquaintances of Patrizia, Melis's ex-girlfriend with whom the victim had consolidated a friendship and had resumed dating.

The night of the crime the victim had accompanied her home after shopping with her, the next day Patrizia had found her friend's body in the same place where he had parked the car the night before.

A few meters from the high-rise buildings in Via Gottardo, the killer - this is the reconstruction of the investigators - opened the car door and, from close range, pressed the trigger of a .38 caliber revolver, a weapon that has not yet been found. Then, closing the door, he walked away.

Right from the start, Patrizia had told the investigators that there was a client of her father Alessandro's bar, where she works, who from this summer was "courting" her, exchanging his courtesies for an interest. invited to go out and gave her attentions that Patrizia had rejected.

But Oste - this is the hypothesis of the investigator - would have seen in Melis, whom he knew, a rival.
