The death of a mother and son in Teolo, in the province of Padua, seemed like an accident. Rosa Dalla Valle, 87 years old, and Paolo Rampon, 60, were found lifeless yesterday morning in their apartment in a villa.

From an initial inspection it was hypothesized that the fumes from the fireplace had accidentally killed them. But a deeper inspection revealed another scenario. The two had sealed the doors and windows so that the monoxide would saturate the house. When the firefighters intervened, alarmed by the neighbors who also heard an explosion, it was too late.

In the house there were also banknotes for 20 thousand euros, all clipped. For the investigators, a gesture that represents the terrible relationships they had with relatives, therefore the desire to make the cash unusable so as not to leave it to potential heirs.
