The funeral home for the victims of the shipwreck that took place in front of the beach of Steccato di Cutro (Crotone) on Sunday morning is set up today at the Crotone sports hall . 63 bodies have been recovered (including two younger twins and a newborn baby), but the number of missing is uncertain, with around eighty surviving. The migrants were traveling on a boat which broke in two.

During the night the searches went on and will continue during the day with underwater patrols and with the use of two helicopters.

Meanwhile there is controversy over the declarations of the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, who reiterated the government's line: " Despair can never justify travel conditions that endanger the lives of one's children" , he said, adding that "for to avoid tragedies, departures must be stopped by working with the countries of origin and those who enter Italy must do so through legal channels, not on unsafe boats".

"Shame on the minister - the opposition and the NGOs attack -, give him a slap to the victims" . And they ask that he report to the Houses on the relief efforts.

Piantedosi retorted in the evening: «I believe that tragedies like these require great respect for the victims, an adequate posture and verbal choices on the part of anyone, especially on the part of those who hold government positions starting with myself. But I find it shameful that there is such a high level of exploitation of such great tragedies to question what are then principles that could be discussed freely».
