Massacre in a villa on the outskirts of L'Aquila.

A doctor killed his wife and two children. Then he took his own life.

His name was Carlo Vicentini, he was head of urology at the Teramo hospital. He had been retired for about a month. According to the very first information behind the tragedy there would be the very serious conditions of one of the two sons, Massimo, 43, who was living attached to a respirator.

On site the police and the magistrate on duty. From the first investigations it seems that Vicentini used a gun duly reported. It is not clear whether this was a premeditated gesture.

«We are devastated – said the director general of the Asl of Teramo Maurizio Di Giosia -. It is a tragedy that we are unable to explain: Professor Vicentini was a very good and appreciated urologist as well as a kind, sensitive and helpful man".

«He retired about a month ago, after having done a great job in our company, in the university-managed urology department - continues the general manager - at the time of retirement, the department returned to hospital management, but continued with the great work set up by Vicentini who was a doctor wanted from outside Teramo and outside the region ».
