A woman was arrested by the police on suspicion of murder.

It is an elderly woman over seventy who allegedly killed her husband - her age - by hitting him on the head with a blunt object .

The crime took place in the couple's home in Santa Maria del Molise, in the province of Isernia.

After the alarm the military arrived on the spot together with the magistrate on duty, the prosecutor Marco Gaeta.

Investigations have been launched to clarify the motive and contours of the story.
