He lost control of his car by overwhelming and killing a 15 year old boy who was with friends on the bike path, he was driving his bike by hand.
The tragedy occurred at 2.30 am in Porcia (Pordenone), driving the car was an American citizen, a young 20-year-old soldier serving at the Aviano base: she was arrested for road murder . She immediately stopped to help the boy, then, under shock, was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Pordenone.
The victim is Giovanni Zanier, who lived with his family in Pordenone. The friends who were with him were miraculously ill.
The woman lost control of the car facing a roundabout, ended up on the cycle path and ran over the boy, who was thrown about ten meters away on impact.
On site the fire brigade, an ambulance and a helicopter. When the doctors arrived on the spot, the little one was still alive, but the race against time was in vain: the 15-year-old died on the way to the emergency room of the Pordenone hospital.
