After 48 hours of chaos and tension and the landing of 2,154 migrants yesterday (with 51 small boats) and another 5,112 with 110 boats on Tuesday, 135 migrants arrived this morning, with three different boats, in Lampedusa. Two boats were hooked by the Guardia di Finanza in the waters off the island, the other - with 39 people - instead managed to reach the coast directly.

In the Imbriacola district hotspot, which can accommodate 400 people, there are currently over 4,500 migrants present: tired, hungry and disoriented.   Almost two thousand people will leave the island: 453 with the ship dedicated to the transfer, the "Lampedusa", will go to Trapani; 480 with the dedicated ship "Veronesi" will be transferred to Augusta, 700 with the Galaxy ferry which will sail to Porto Empedocle and 300 with the military ship Orione which will sail to Catania.

«The situation has become unmanageable – explains Domenico Pianese, general secretary of the Coisp police union, denying however that there have been tensions with the police forces - But the declarations of the 'beautiful souls' ready to point the finger at the police shouting scandal: the police officers in the hotspot, a few dozen, last night, during the distribution of the meal, only had to deal with the tensions that arose among the guests themselves to avoid being crushed by the pressure of migrants who were afraid of running out of food. Anyone who talks about charges by the Police is lying, knowing they are lying: the officers only carried out the so-called lightening charges necessary to avoid crushing the policemen and the migrants themselves."

From the hotspot to the fire brigade area, 400 or 500 meters of road are filled with thermal blankets, shoes, empty water bottles, clothing and tablecloths . It is from the fire brigade area that the migrants are loaded onto buses to reach the port where they will be loaded onto military ships and scheduled ferries. There are very few people who move away from the Imbriacola district. And they only do it because they're hungry. In Via Roma, even in the morning, there were many very young people, sitting on the sidewalks, eating what they managed to find or buy. Someone also rummaged through the garbage bins. Most, almost all, remained between the hotspot and the fire brigade area, waiting for their turn to leave and face a different future.
