Investigation into Hamas funding under judge and prosecutor's watchdog

Preliminary Investigations Judge Silvia Carpanini and Public Prosecutor Marco Zocco are under judicial protection following the major investigation that led to the arrest of Mohammed Hannoun, president of the Association of Palestinians in Italy, and six other individuals believed to be Hamas financiers.

This is a preventative measure. The two magistrates will be assigned a police officer and a Guardia di Finanza soldier to accompany them on their travels.

In recent days, permanent surveillance has been established in front of the courthouse, with a rotating patrol of Carabinieri, police, and Guardia di Finanza officers guarding the entrance to the courthouse. The emergency protection order was issued by the Committee for Public Order and Security.
