Eight Sardinian companies will be at the Barcelona Smart City Expo World Congress 2026, the world's leading showcase for solutions for more sustainable, efficient, and human-scale cities. Sardegna Ricerche is offering this unmissable opportunity to the island's innovative startups and SMEs with a voucher and the guarantee of a dedicated exhibition space at the event. The regional agency has already launched a call for applications to select companies that can apply—by June 25th—to participate in the event.

"In a world without distances, internationalization is a key factor in a company's success. Sardegna Ricerche has always been attentive to events moving in this direction, such as the Barcelona Expo," emphasized Carmen Atzori, general director of Sardegna Ricerche.

The Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona will be held from November 3 to 5, 2026. More than 25,000 participants are expected, including private exhibitors and public entities, representing 850 cities from over 135 different countries, all seeking a new urban paradigm.

The event will focus on various thematic areas for companies to address, including: Enabling Technologies, Blue Economy, Mobility, Inclusion, Energy, Environment, and much more.

Sardegna Ricerche, thanks in part to the synergies created with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), will directly cover the costs of purchasing exhibition space, services, and passes associated with the stand. Selected companies may also receive a voucher to partially cover travel expenses. In addition to the exhibition, companies will be involved in several promotional and exchange events with various organizations. During the fair, Sardinian startups will participate in dedicated B2B meetings. Thanks to the collaboration with the Enterprise Europe Network, of which Sardegna Ricerche is a local hub, specialized training modules, visits of interest, and other services will also be organized.
