The Regions are preparing to face the new phase of the vaccination campaign, that of administering the third dose also to the age group 40-60 years.

There is talk of an audience of over 15 million Italians who, from 1 December, will be able to undergo the third dose through hubs or pharmacies, family doctors or direct calls via SMS.

"Without prejudice to priority" for those who have yet to complete the first cycle, reads the circular published by the Ministry of Health, the booster dose (for those who have completed the primary cycle for 180 days) is now necessary to counter the resurgence of infections in the Country.

To date, in Italy, fully vaccinated people are over 45 million, equal to 76% of the population and 84% of those over 12. To have received the third dose, however, are 2.5 million people, included in the authorized categories up to to date, that is frail, guests of the RSA, health personnel, people between 60 and 80 years and those who have received the Johnson & Johnson for at least 6 months, regardless of age.

The Regions for the moment are moving in no particular order: in Sardinia "the system is already prepared" , said the regional health councilor Mario Nieddu who is also evaluating possible Open days to speed up the administration. There are no new vaccination centers but the existing ones will be used, with reservation.

Lazio will enhance the facilities available, which will be supported by the work of family doctors and pharmacies, which just yesterday exceeded 100 thousand vaccinations (of which over 25% third doses).

In Lombardy, the organizational model will remain the one already tested for the first vaccination cycle, i.e. booking through the portal and administration in pharmacies and hubs which are all still open.
