He killed his partner with 24 stab wounds: "Now he can't be tried, he doesn't remember anything."

He is unable to participate in the trial and is not socially dangerous.
This is what the experts appointed by the investigating judge Alessandro Moneti said in view of the hearing on March 25, as reported today by Corriere Fiorentino and La Nazione, on the case of 37-year-old Lorenzo Innocenti who more than a year ago, on February 8, 2025 to be exact, killed his partner, Eleonora Guidi , attacking her in the kitchen of their home in Rufina (Florence) with 24 stab wounds to the back .
The alarm was raised by Innocenti's father, who, hearing screams coming from the adjoining apartment, reached the couple, finding his son covered in blood and still holding the knife. Innocenti then threw himself from the second-floor terrace, without his father being able to stop him. A year after that fall, the man cannot be tried : he has reportedly suffered serious injuries and suffers from numerous lapses in memory , a language deficit , and difficulty reasoning .
"The condition," psychiatrist Rolando Paterniti, neurologist Antonella Notarelli, and medical examiner Beatrice Defraia concluded, " could be temporary and could improve following rehabilitation at a specialized center for at least 12 months, after which a reevaluation of the patient's neuropsychological status is considered appropriate ."
The victim's family's consultants disagree: "Innocenti struck Eleonora with 24 stabs demonstrating unprecedented ferocity, and in the presence of her minor son," write neurologist Sandro Sorbi, coroner Aurelio Bonelli, and psychiatrist Stefano Berrettini. "In the absence of any known neurological or psychiatric pathology, we are dealing with a person incapable of controlling his aggressive impulses and, therefore, extremely dangerous."
Innocenti's condition—who has been in a coma since the suicide attempt and is now hospitalized in Ponte a Niccheri without any restrictions—will be reevaluated in 12 months, La Nazione reports . "He speaks, he moves, he walks around freely in the hospital, but they don't want to put him on trial. It's a scandal. Someone will have to explain to us whether, from now on, throwing himself off the balcony is enough to avoid charges of femicide," Elisabetta, Eleonora's sister, told Corriere Fiorentino. "After my sister's death, all we got was kicks. His assets weren't even seized for the benefit of the child, even though this is always done after femicides when a minor is involved. And the custody hasn't even been formalized yet. We're in an unbearable limbo ."
