He fled at the sight of the police to avoid being taken to prison because "he wanted to spend the end-of-year holidays with his family". A 54-year-old Neapolitan man residing in Rolo (Reggio Emilia) jumped from a height of four metres, remaining miraculously unharmed.

The daring escape occurred when the man realized that the military were about to carry out a provision issued by the surveillance office of Reggio Emilia, which had suspended his home detention, ordering instead to take him to prison following some violations of the measure to which he was subjected.

The search for the man lasted a few hours, then he was tracked down by the police in a construction site near his home where he had hidden and then returned to the house. The 54-year-old must serve a number of remaining sentences for a mugging committed in Rolo in August 2011 against a girl who had just got off the train and for a scam committed in Moglia (in the Mantua area) in 2016.

He was granted house arrest last March 30, when the remaining sentence was 11 months and 27 days. But over the months he was caught several times at home with people other than his cohabitants; on another occasion he had threatened the police. He has now been taken to prison.
