Tragedy in Montegaldella, a small town in the province of Vicenza.
A 7-year-old boy died of suffocation on fragments of a rubber balloon that burst in his mouth .
The little one, according to what was reconstructed by the Giornale di Vicenza, was at home with his grandmother and was playing with the balloon. Suddenly he would bite into it causing it to explode. Some fragments fell down his throat blocking his airways and causing him to lose consciousness.
An ambulance from Suem 118 was on site and tried to revive him. The child, in a coma, was admitted to the San Bortolo hospital in Vicenza and died after two days of agony.
The prosecution did not consider it necessary to open investigation files: it was a dramatic accident.
