An argument between two spouses resulted in a violent beating in the Catania area, in the Belsito district of Misterbianco, where a 53-year-old man attacked his 49-year-old wife, who is now in very serious condition .

The victim was reportedly struck on the head with a blunt object, causing extensive cranial trauma . After receiving medical attention, she was taken to Garibaldi Centro Hospital with critical condition, where she remains hospitalized with a guarded prognosis. Doctors say her condition is desperate .

Carabinieri from the Mobile Radio Unit and the Misterbianco Police Station were also on the scene and immediately arrested the attacker. The vulnerable groups section of the Etna Public Prosecutor's Office, headed by Deputy Prosecutor Liana Todaro, has opened an investigation into attempted femicide .

The violent argument, it turns out, occurred in front of the couple's children. It was one of them who called 112 for help. The operator maintained direct contact until help arrived, to avoid further consequences and to reassure the girl, who was in shock .

When emergency responders and the Carabinieri arrived, the woman was on the ground, unconscious and suffering from a serious head injury. Her husband was immediately arrested.
