Goodbye to Domenico De Masi, the sociologist close to the 5 stars and inspirer of the citizen's income. He died in Rome, aged 85. Last August 15 he discovered he had an invasive disease that took his life in just a few days.

Born in Rotello, in the province of Campobasso on February 1, 1938, he was professor emeritus of Sociology of Work at the "La Sapienza" University of Rome, where he held the role of dean of the faculty of Communication Sciences.

Always interested in the sociology of work, in post-industrial society, a great supporter of agile working and citizen's income, he considered the Italian economic system inadequate to conduct an effective fight against poverty and precariousness.

The condolences of politicians were unanimous, particularly moved by the memory of Giuseppe Conte: «A clear and independent mind, the time will come to reflect on his cultural heritage, on his intellectual legacy at the service only of his ideas and his beliefs. For me and the 5 Star Movement he was a sincere friend and a privileged interlocutor to freely discuss and question ourselves critically about our ideal horizon and our political path."
