Go hunting for wild boars in the city, they can be eaten

Green light, in the cities, for the hunting of wild animals , which can then be eaten after the appropriate hygienic-sanitary tests.

There is no explicit mention of wild boars , but these were discussed in the examination of the amendment proposed by FdI, the first to be evaluated in the Budget Committee, and the last to be approved seven days later, when the final night session seemed to already closed.

Strong protests from the Greens , ready to make a complaint in Europe ("They are protected animals like wolves, bears and foxes").

THE NUMBERS – According to Coldiretti there are about 2.3 million wild boars that "invade" the cities and countryside in Italy and in the last year alone an accident has occurred every 41 hours with 13 victims and 261 seriously injured . A situation which, according to the federal government, requires an immediate solution.

Furthermore, according to Coldiretti, 81% of Italians think that the problem should be tackled by resorting to culling , especially by appointing specialized personnel to reduce their number. 69% believe wild boars are too numerous and 58% consider them a threat.

Security problems are joined by the one linked to the swine fever emergency . Anti-wild boar nets, enlargement of hunting areas and containment plans had already been implemented over the last year to deal with the emergency that had affected several Italian regions, including Sardinia .
