Giulio Regeni, the trial against the 007 Egyptians suspended: "There is no proof that they know they are accused"

The trial on the kidnapping and death of Giulio Regeni , the Friulian researcher brutally killed in Cairo and found dead in February 2016, began today and has already been interrupted.

The III Court of Assizes of Rome decided to return the documents to the judge who had ordered the indictment of the four Egyptian 007 accused but absent during the trial. According to the judges, there is no proof that they are aware of the trial, which therefore cannot go on.

The preliminary hearing starts again: the judge will now have to use all the tools, including a new rogatory letter with Egypt, to make the accused's knowledge of the proceedings against them effective and not just presumed.

THE INVESTIGATIONS - The four National Security agents - General Sabir Tariq, Colonels Usham Helmi, Athar Kamel Mohamed Ibrahim and Magdi Ibrahim Abdelal Sharif - are accused in various ways of multiple kidnapping, complicity in aggravated murder and concurrence in personal injury aggravate.

Eight witnesses heard by the prosecutor who accuse them. In the process, in addition to Regeni's parents, the presidency of the Council of Ministers also constituted a civil party.
