They were posing for a photograph when the railing of the balcony they were on gave way, and the group of boys fell from the parapet. It happened in Rome , where tragedy was narrowly avoided late yesterday evening during a private party in a reception hall on Via Cassia.
During the evening, part of the terrace parapet collapsed and six boys – some of them minors – fell from a height of about five meters, ending up on a lawn. According to the reconstruction, the group had approached to take a photo and, after leaning on the railing, the structure suddenly gave way. All were injured: the most serious received a prognosis of 30 days.
The alarm was raised around 10:30 p.m. The carabinieri of the Trionfale company, the Tomba di Nerone station, the Nucleo Radiomobile of Rome, the staff of the Spresal of the ASL and the Inspectorate of Labor intervened on the spot. The 118 health workers provided first aid and transported the boys to various hospitals in the capital.
The firefighters secured the area, which was subsequently cordoned off by the Carabinieri and placed under seizure. The technical surveys were entrusted to the military of the Survey Section of the Investigative Unit of Via In Selci. Two boys aged 17 and 18 were taken to the Sant'Andrea hospital, with prognoses of 30 and 20 days respectively, and a 17-year-old girl with a prognoses of 10 days. Three other young people were transferred to the Gemelli: two 17-year-olds with prognoses of 30 days, and an 18-year-old girl with less serious injuries (4 days). The clinical evaluation of another boy is underway.
