Protests at the States General, in Rome, of the Natality during the speech of the Minister for the Family Eugenia Roccella.

When Roccella spoke , boos were raised in the audience and signs were raised with the words: "I decide", a reference to the right to abortion and law 194 on termination of pregnancy.

A group of students challenged the minister. At that point Roccella turned to the demonstrators, explaining: "Guys, we agree, but no one said that someone else decides on women's bodies, no one at all." The protest, however, continued, with one of the demonstrators speaking briefly into the microphone, only to be interrupted by the organizer, Gigi De Palo.

So while the protest continued, De Palo himself decided to give the floor to other guests, postponing Roccella's speech who first left the stage and then the Conciliazione Auditorium.

«I am sure that the secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein, the entire left, the intellectuals such as Antonio Scurati, Roberto Saviano etc., the large press and the militant press that we have seen mobilized in other places in these hours, will have unequivocal words of solidarity in the towards me after the act of censorship which this morning prevented me from speaking at the States General organized by the Birth Foundation to carry out my speech and also to respond to the protestors-censors and speak with them", Roccella then wrote on Facebook .

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also intervened in the case, expressing «full and unconditional solidarity with Eugenia Roccella. The show – added Meloni – staged this morning is ignoble. Once again a Minister was prevented from intervening and expressing his ideas ."

A position also taken by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella , who telephoned Minister Roccella to express "solidarity" with her for what happened.

"Wanting to silence those who think differently goes against the foundations of civilization and with our Constitution" , said the Head of State.
