After days of torrid heat, bad weather scourges Northern Italy, struggling with violent storms, landslides and floods.

In Valtellina, about ten people were evacuated from the hamlet of Santa Lucia, in Valdisotto (Sondrio), due to the partial flooding of the Frodolfo stream at its confluence with the Adda.

Landslides and evacuations also on Lake Como and in Veneto, especially in the Cortina d'Ampezzo area.

But damage and inconvenience are recorded in many other places. Anas has communicated the closure of three roads as a precaution: the state road 470 "Valbrembana" in the Valtellina and Bergamo area; the Swiss side of state road 36 "of Lake Como and Spluga" and the French side of state road 21 "della Maddalena" in the province of Cuneo is also closed.

Problems also in the North-West and in the Center: a water bomb was unleashed in Trieste, which flooded numerous streets in the center including Piazza Unità d'Italia, while in Tuscany the ferry line between Piombino and the Island of 'Elba was cut off due to strong gusts of wind.
