The woman died while traveling with her husband and some friends, including former minister Arturo Parisi, on a Franciscan path in Umbria . They were walking, yesterday evening they had slept in Gubbio and today they were in the direction of Assisi. Flavia Prodi fell suddenly, perhaps due to illness .

Among the first to comment on the news was Pier Ferdinando Casini : «Astonished to learn of Flavia's disappearance, I cling to Romano Prodi and his children in this moment of great grief. "Deep condolences" were also expressed by the head of state Sergio Mattarella, while the premier Giorgia Meloni expressed "the deepest closeness" to the former leader of the Olive Tree.
