« The former senator Maria Fida Moro has died , who we will commemorate in another session, but to whom we want to address a deferential thought and a few moments of silence».

Thus in the Senate Chamber, President Ignazio la Russa announced this morning the death, at the age of 77, of the daughter of DC leader Aldo Moro .

Maria Fida Moro died in a Roman clinic, where she was hospitalized . She had been ill for some time, but in recent days her health conditions had rapidly worsened.

She was a parliamentarian for one legislature, from 1987 to 1992, elected with the DC .

In 2013 he founded a Christian social movement called “Dimensione Cristiana con Moro” , inspired by the politics of the Christian Democrat statesman.

On the occasion of the 2016 local elections in Rome, she ran for the position of municipal councilor in the Campidoglio, as the head of the list of "Più Roma - Democrats and Populars", a centrist list formed by the Democratic Center and Solidarity Democracy, in support of the mayoral candidate Roberto Giachetti, but was not elected.

Among the challenges won was the recent one for the recognition of the remedial measures provided for by law for the children of victims of terrorism , i.e. tax exemption on pension income and a longer contribution period.

«My son and I express boundless gratitude to the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for this unexpected gift - the words of Maria Fida Moro in March last year - who informed me that the Chamber of Deputies has actively moved for the application of the law 206 of 2004 in favor of Aldo Moro. Law whose application I have asked for almost twenty years in a row and I had lost hope."
