Maxi operation of the Guardia di Finanza to protect the national production of extra virgin olive oil. 183 checks carried out throughout the Italian territory as part of the survey called "Verum et Oleum".

The subjects of the inspections carried out by the financiers of the Special Goods and Services Unit and by the inspectors of the ICQRF Department of the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies were the operators in the sector and the main ports of entry for raw materials from abroad.

It emerged that 27.2% of the samples taken were irregular, for a total of 2,300,000 liters of oil that did not comply with Community and national legislation. Of the 102 samples taken and subjected to analysis in the ICQRF laboratories, "25 were found to be irregular for quality lower than declared, that is, for oil qualified as extra virgin olive oil, but actually detected by the analyzes as virgin", explain the Fiamme Gialle.

Ten people were reported for the hypothesis of commercial fraud.

Also contested 33 administrative violations on the keeping of the registers, on the compilation of the mandatory documentation and the maintenance of the traceability requirement, for a total amount of over 10,000,000 euros intended for tax revenues, issued 5 warnings to comply with the provisions of the authority for the regularization and carried out 5 administrative seizures, for a total value of over 170,000 euros.
