Twelve arrests, also in Sardinia, as part of an investigation coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Bari Public Prosecutor's Office.

In the crosshairs several suspects believed to be close to the Strisciuglio clan, operating in the city districts of San Pio, Santo Spirito and Palese di Bari and held responsible for continued extortion in competition, aggravated by the mafia method.

The arrests are also carried out simultaneously in Puglia, Campania, Calabria, Sicily, Lazio, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.

THE INVESTIGATIONS - The investigations, coordinated by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate of Bari and conducted in the period from February 2023 to today by the Operations Department - Investigative Unit of Bari, have made it possible to gather serious indications of guilt on the "Enziteto" articulation of the Strisciuglio clan, acting Head to Saverio Faccilongo.

The extortions attributed to the suspects were of various kinds: free work to be carried out on cars in which there were armed people, or specious compensation for repair work because it was "performed badly". Instead of paying, they returned after a few days complaining of the poor quality of the work, demanding not only not to pay anything, but even the delivery of money.

During the course of the activities, already in the month of February, the Carabinieri had arrested two people in the act of committing a crime and subjected a third suspect to detention as a suspect in the crime. Subsequent investigations made it possible to collect serious indications of guilt against the suspects reached today by the precautionary measure, including some already detained for other reasons.
