The search for the missing from the Suviana power station has resumed . Yesterday was spent re-establishing safety conditions to allow the intervention of the Fire Brigade , and a pipeline was fixed which risked, in the event of a valve breaking, the rescuers being overwhelmed by the water. The oils present in the tank at the center of the operations were taken and then the drainage pumps came into play to eliminate the water that had entered the plant since the previous night.

" We are not working with much hope of finding the missing alive , the scenario before us does not give us this idea", recalled Luca Cari, communication manager of the Fire Brigade.

This morning, shortly after eleven o'clock , divers found the bodies of two other missing people, yet to be identified, on the ninth floor underground . The tragic toll of the accident is therefore updated to five dead, two missing and five injured .

However, the scenario in which we work to search for the other missing remains extremely complex: «It is very similar to the activities we have developed as part of the Costa Concordia because the environment is difficult, it is an environment with practically zero visibility, we operate by touch and it is obviously an environment that does not lend itself to research activities" said Giuseppe Petrone, head of the Fire Brigade's divers. For days, he continued, "we have been doing everything we can". But «we are operating in a scenario that is quite complex because in addition to being affected by an explosion, it was also affected by a subsequent partial collapse of a floor. And we have the eighth, ninth and tenth floors completely flooded, we are reducing the amount of water to facilitate the divers' activity."

Many elements underlying the accident remain to be clarified : what caused the explosion during testing, which then led to the collapse of the attic and the flooding of the premises? There is no definitive answer for now, but an investigation will have to find it.

The Minister of Labour, Marina Elvira Calderone, calls for prudence: «I believe that it is premature to describe a dynamic of the facts that is not yet ascertained and above all to launch, as I have seen someone do, into evaluations and statements on what could have been the causes of the accident,” he said.
