A large fire broke out at dawn this morning at the Bella Italia campsite in Peschiera del Garda, in the province of Verona. The alarm was raised shortly before 6:00 a.m.
The facility was open, with guests inside, and according to reports, the flames affected around thirty mobile homes. Initial reports indicate one person was injured in a red code, seven in a yellow code, and 16 in a green code. Twenty firefighters with five fire engines, as well as six Suem 118 firefighters, were involved in the rescue effort.
The fire appears to have started accidentally inside one of the bungalows. A total of seven people were taken to the emergency room, all foreign tourists except for a campsite security guard. Three were minors. One tourist suffered third-degree burns, while the others were mostly suffering from carbon monoxide fumes.
