Ex carabiniere barricades himself in the house armed with his wife: after 10 hours he surrenders

A long negotiation , which lasted more than ten hours , and which fortunately ended without serious consequences.

It happened yesterday in Pavullo , on the Modena Apennines, where a retired former carabiniere barricaded himself in the house with his wife, threatening her several times and telling her that he would kill her and then take his own life too.

After intense negotiation , the 68-year-old man surrendered and handed himself over to the Arma negotiator . Several weapons were found in the house.

The former carabiniere had never shown problems when he was on duty, but lately it seems he was going through a period of depression .
