“Spazio Fontanelli” is born in Milan, a redeveloped multisport field in a green area of Municipality 9, which will be dedicated to the memory of Davide Astori, the footballer who died in 2018 and spent six seasons at Cagliari.

One of his phrases, «Every child has the right to play his game», decorates the wall of the new field.

The initiative, which provides a meeting and entertainment venue for over 500 young people from the northern outskirts of the Lombardy capital, saw Fondazione Milan, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, the Municipality of Milan, Sport and Health, work together FIGC, Davide Astori Association and Aquilone Foundation.

«I am proud that this field is named after Davide Astori - commented Franco Baresi, honorary vice-president of Ac Milan and Ambassador of the Milan Foundation -. I met him, I coached him when he was at Milan. He was an extraordinary boy capable of transmitting values and was also an inspiration for many young people who approached football." Davide's strength «was that of experiencing professional sport with the simplicity he had as a kid. Children, for him, were the most important thing to support", added his brother Bruno, secretary of the Davide Astori Association. «Having this field is very important for a populated neighborhood - said the mayor Giuseppe Sala -, with many children for whom sport will also be a moment of personal growth».

«The outskirts of our cities are places full of talents, values and ideas to be released and young people need all our commitment, so that there are more and more opportunities and spaces for aggregation to fight exclusion in the field, every day and the risk of degradation", concluded the deputy minister of Labor and Social Policies, Maria Teresa Bellucci.
