"They left my mother on a stretcher in the emergency room from December 10 to December 18. Only on the 19th was she transferred to General Medicine, when she was already very ill and may have contracted an infection in the hospital. But by then it was too late. On December 20th she died." Romina Gelardi cannot find peace after the death of 76-year-old Maria Ruggia, which occurred at the Ingrassia hospital in Palermo. The elderly woman had been hospitalized with symptoms of prolonged loss of appetite and persistent nausea. There were many questions waiting for an answer, so her daughter filed a complaint.

«During her hospitalization, the clinical conditions of my mother, who has heart disease , ischemic heart disease , breast cancer and type II diabetes mellitus, were not taken into consideration».

Assisted by the lawyer Andrea Dell'Aira, she asked the prosecutor to ascertain the responsibilities. The police intervened and seized the medical records and the body that will be taken to the institute of forensic medicine for the autopsy.
