Six hundred thousand euros. It is the considerable amount left by will by a woman from Florence, Fernanda Rafanelli, to three institutions of the Tuscan capital including the Animal Park, or the municipal kennel of Ugnano, which houses a hundred strays.

The formal deed of donation took place in the presence of the lawyer Nicola Boschi, executor of the will, the mayor Dario Nardella, the environmental councilor Andrea Giorgio and the staff of the kennel.

Thanks to the generosity of the benefactress, the kennel will be able to be expanded, with new shelters and boxes for dogs and cats, for an investment of 350 thousand euros. In addition, the clinic will be reorganized and new boxes for isolation will be built in the health facility in viale Corsica, managed by the ASL.

«We are proud to receive this donation - Mayor Nardella declared - which demonstrates how our Animal Park is a reality of excellence and an example of an avant-garde structure dedicated to animal welfare. Many interventions have been made over the years, such as the operating room and the birth of the pension, always sold out every summer. But what pleases us most is the high number of adoptions, on average 85 dogs a year out of a hundred arrivals».
