When the money came out from the search, the truck driver said something like: "I found the sealed envelope on the ground and I took it, I didn't know there was all that money inside."

A justification that did not convince the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza of Treviso, who stopped a truck of a Sardinian transport company at the Preganziol motorway exit and found 280 thousand euros in cash.

The large sum was hidden in the engine. The discovery was made by a drug dog from the Escor canine unit : no signal during the check on the goods. Then he hinted that something was wrong when he approached the cockpit doors.

So a more thorough search was started: under the driver's bed, inside some cellophane bags, there was the money.

According to the Fiamme Gialle, the lorry driver "in response to questions about the origin and destination of the money, provided a reconstruction that was immediately considered improbable: according to him, the sum was found by chance on the ground, inside a sealed envelope, the day before the detention, immediately before embarking on the journey. However, he would not have opened it and would have realized the precious contents only during the search».

The money was seized and the man was charged with receiving stolen goods.
