Davide Rebellin's investor has been identified: he is a German truck driver
The 50-year-old driver had disappeared after the fatal accident. He was reported and not arrested because in Germany the code does not provide for the crime of vehicular homicide
The truck driver driving the vehicle who overwhelmed and killed the former cycling champion Davide Rebellin has been identified.
It is a 50-year-old German citizen , traced thanks to the collaboration between the carabinieri and the German police.
After the accident, which took place on November 30 on a state road in Montebello Vicentino , he had lost track of him.
After the identification he was reported on the loose. In fact, it was not possible to place him in custody, since the German code does not provide for the crime of vehicular homicide.
From what was reported to the investigators by eyewitnesses, after the investment the man had got off the driver's cab of the truck, had approached the victim on the ground . But then he had gotten back on the vehicle, moving away quickly.
Furthermore, the 50-year-old had already been sentenced in Italy, in Foggia, in 2001, for having fled after an accident without providing assistance to the people involved.
