A truck hits a car stopped in a tunnel, killing three on the A1 motorway.
A tragic collision near Florence left two people injured, including a child.

Three people died and two were injured in an accident involving a truck and a car around 2:30 PM inside the Base Tunnel on the A1 motorway, in the province of Florence, along the Variante di Valico. A child was among the injured.
Following the accident, the stretch of motorway towards Bologna, between Firenzuola and Badia, was closed.
A seven-kilometer tailback formed after the tragic impact. Firefighters and traffic police responded to the scene after the alarm was raised.
According to an initial reconstruction of the incident, the car, a Fiat Panda, carrying the three dead men and the injured woman and child, stopped suddenly in the lane. Several oncoming cars managed to avoid it, while the oncoming truck attempted to brake but was unable to avoid a very violent impact with the small car.
