The investigation by the Aosta prosecutor's office into the cat that - after falling and being injured in January - underwent a CT scan at the Parini regional hospital by its owner Gianluca Fanelli, an interventional radiologist and husband of Senator Spelgatti (Lega) has been closed.

Four people are under investigation : Fanelli, Massimiliano Natrella, head of Radiology, Giulia Sammaritani, radiology technician and daughter of the regional councilor of the League Paolo Sammaritani , and another technician whose personal details have not been disclosed.

The charges brought against the first three are improper allocation of money or movable property, unauthorized practice of profession, fraud against the State for unrelated stampings, interruption of public service . This last charge is the only one brought against the other technique investigated.

The facts occurred last January : Athena, Fanelli's cat, fell six floors and he saved her by subjecting her to a CT scan and then to drainage at the Parini regional hospital in Aosta, where he is responsible for the simple structure of Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology.

"By profession," the doctor explained, "I am an interventional radiologist and I knew I could save her only with a timely intervention. At a time when the three CT scans were not in service, after 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, when the scheduled tests for the day were finished and all the diagnostic machines were waiting to perform any urgent tests, having verified that there were no patients and, obviously, not clocking in, I decided to check what her condition was and what I could possibly do to save her ."

Again: «I performed a few seconds of radiological examination using one of the three CT scans and, having thus assessed the severity of the conditions of the pneumothorax, I then performed the drainage, finally and immediately allowing her to breathe: from that moment on, the cat started breathing again and gradually recovered».

In short, the doctor said, "if I hadn't done everything I could and my cat had died, I would never have been able to forgive myself, even for my children who adore her."
