"No more indoor masks and quarantine for those who are positive, because with Omicron the paradigm has changed: the priority is no longer to control its spread but not to make the frail sick because if a fifteen-year-old becomes infected, it does nothing, if it happens to an elderly person with other diseases you can still lose your life ".

Thus Andrea Crisanti, professor of Microbiology at the University of Padua, who was also a consultant for the Sardinia Region , analyzes the current phase of the Covid-19 pandemic and the countermeasures to keep the virus under control.

The expert gave an interview to La Stampa, where he substantially reiterated what he had already said in recent days to the microphones of "A sheep's day", on Rai Radio Uno: "Today, in the situation we are experiencing, restrictions matter right: the coronavirus is too contagious, it is irrepressible, worse than measles, and it is useless, for example, to wear a mask on the bus and then take it off for dinner. The fragile must always keep the mask, it is they who must defend ".

Also on the radio Crisanti had also commented on the "slowdown" of the vaccination campaign in Italy, underlining that "the virus is moving forward so fast that he is taking care of 'vaccinating' everyone".
